Targets
The City of Melbourne has developed eleven targets
- By 2020 one hundred percent of visitors to and residents of the City will feel welcome, safe and engaged. (Method: Annual Local Government Survey)
- By 2020 all residents can easily and affordably access council information and services either electronically or by other methods.
- A 20% increase (on 2008 levels) in the number of primary and secondary school students on excursions into the City by 2020.
- Attain xxx% of affordable housing in the city (an increase of 10???%) and expand the diversity of housing options for people wanting to live in the city. NADINE / Nanette
- Total employment to exceed 400,000 by 2020. Increase of Advanced Manufacturing, Finance Services, Business and Property Services and Education sectors within the City of Melbourne’s economy structure.
- Zero Net emissions by 2020
- Achieve a 40% reduction (from 2000 levels) in water use by Council, residents and businesses by 2020.
- Melbourne will be ranked in the world’s top 10 research centres as well as the top 5 cities for international higher education
- One hundred percent of students graduating from institutions within the City of Melbourne consider their education was positively contributed to by their experience within the City of Melbourne.
- 90% of people to get to work in the City of Melbourne by walking, bike riding and public transport
- 30 km speed limits in the central city and residential areas by 2020.
