A suggestion

In response to a suggestion, I am reposting this from Knowledge>World-class Knowledge City:

What needs to be developed is not so much the number of 'Knowledge Events' in Melbourne, but the opportunities that people have to engage with them. A culture of more open links and critical discourse between individuals is what is needed.

A good way of encouraging the public to engage more thoroughly with political issues is Deliberative Polling. Not only does it potentially lead to wider understanding of political policies -especially with unfavourable but important policies like taxes- but it creates a space and mindset in which critical thought is encrouaged to grow. 2020 was a questionable example of this; we need more regular and inclusive discourses that thoroughly engage with community issues like the Environment and Housing.

Also, public transport is a great opportunity to get people engaging with one another; in the Netherlands trams have TV screens that display pieces of information designed to spark discussion between people. Things like this are a great way of facilitating links through which knowledge can be passed on.

Priorities for inclusiveness

I submit that two extremely important forms of inclusiveness are the ability to obtain housing and the ability to find employment and/or start a business. In other words, I submit that two extremely serious forms of exclusion are homelessness and unemployment. Hence I added "Affordable for new business" under the heading "Related pathways".

I also converted other titles under that heading into links, but removed "Inviting active participation", which seemed to refer to the current (wiki) page.

N.B.: The ability to obtain housing and the ability to find employment and/or start a business are inextricably linked, for reasons that I explain in The Mother of All BBQ Stoppers .

Haves and have nots

The widening gulf between the Haves and Have-Nots of Australian society will see an increased need to bridge that widening gap through understanding, initiatives and a collective mindshift to reverse this trend. Encouraging, educating and advocating downsizing and regressing (with the perspective of experiencing the other mode) into a more simpler state of existence that has broad philosophical approaches towards how one lives in this consumerist society will aid the removal of this gulf between Haves and Have-Nots.
