Information Centre
Future Melbourne is exploring all elements of city life through a program of discussion, debate, consultation and analysis.
Drawing on the ideas, visions and dreams of the Melbourne community, the City of Melbourne will develop a city strategy that truly reflects its community and its needs both now and in 2020 and beyond.
Future Melbourne is led by the City of Melbourne, with contributions from project partners such as: the University of Melbourne, the Australian Conservation Foundation; the Committee for Melbourne; the Property Council of Australia (VIC); and the Victorian Council for Social Service, and the RMIT Global Cities Institute.
A Future Melbourne Reference Group, made up of prominent Melburnians is acting as a sounding board for this project and the expertise of many of Melbourne’s great thinkers is also being drawn upon.
But of course, the Melbourne community is the most important partner in this project.
Considering the options
All research collected so far has been transformed into ‘Future Melbourne: considering the options’ - a series of possible futures for the city. You are invited to tell us how the possible futures outlined in this document fit with your vision for the city. With your help we will continue shaping Melbourne’s future.
Through your comments, and those of the rest of the Melbourne community, we can collectively refine and develop the options into real opportunities and possibilities for the future of the city.
What’s next?
The next phase of Future Melbourne is ‘Achieving Agreement’, where the City of Melbourne and Future Melbourne project partners will refine the options identified by the Melbourne community, developing strategies to make these options real possibilities for the city.
Future Melbourne, the City of Melbourne’s strategy for Melbourne in 2020 and beyond, will be completed in September 2008.
